SLEC T-240 Model Aircraft Kit

The SLEC T-240 is a large-scale sport and trainer model aircraft designed with practicality, ease of transport and excellent flying characteristics in mind. With its two-piece wing and thoughtful design, the T-240 fits comfortably into most small hatchback cars while still leaving plenty of room for passengers and flying equipment.

Designed for straightforward construction, the fuselage is manufactured from precision CNC-routed, laser-cut and die-cut plywood components that interlock to produce a strong, lightweight and accurately aligned airframe. Comprehensive illustrated building instructions and full-size plans make the model enjoyable to build for both experienced modellers and those progressing to larger aircraft.

The fully enclosed engine installation provides a clean, scale appearance. The nose section is formed from pre-shaped balsa with a thin birch plywood cowl, while the spacious cabin features a printed instrument panel and removable two-piece floor, allowing easy access to the radio installation and onboard equipment.

The two-piece wing is built around laser-cut and die-cut plywood ribs supported by hardwood spars for exceptional strength. Individual aileron servos and optional flap servos can be fitted to each wing panel, which are joined using a robust 15mm plywood wing brace before being secured with wing bolts. Functional wing struts complete the scale appearance while adding additional structural support.

With its low wing loading, the T-240 offers gentle, predictable handling and slow landing speeds, even without flaps. Its excellent stability and outstanding visibility make it an ideal club trainer, while still providing an enjoyable flying experience for more experienced pilots.

The prototype was flown successfully using a standard 0.91 cu in (approximately 15cc) two-stroke engine. Owing to the large diameter cowl, a minimum 14-inch propeller is recommended for optimum performance.

For builders wishing to install larger petrol engines, an optional fibreglass cowl (Part No. PR124-6) is available, providing additional clearance and simplifying installation.
