The RAF Crash Tender is a beautifully detailed 1/16 scale model boat kit, faithfully reproducing the iconic High-Speed Vosper RAF Air-Sea Rescue Launch. Measuring 34.5 inches (876mm) in length, this impressive model has been designed as a fully seaworthy radio-controlled boat, combining scale authenticity with excellent on-the-water performance.
Manufactured from precision CNC laser- and router-cut birch plywood, the kit includes all the timber components required for construction, together with strip wood, laser-cut window overlays and clear window material, comprehensive building instructions, and full-size plans. Precision laser cutting ensures an accurate fit throughout the build while laser-engraved deck and cabin roof planking faithfully reproduces the appearance of the full-size vessel.
Designed with the radio control modeller in mind, the forward and centre cabin roofs, together with the rear cockpit floor, are removable to provide excellent access to the radio installation, steering servo and motor compartment. This thoughtful layout makes installation, maintenance and servicing straightforward once the model is complete.
The kit has been modernised to simplify construction while retaining the character of the original design, making it ideally suited to modellers with previous boat or aircraft building experience. Running hardware is not included, allowing builders to select their preferred propulsion system and equipment.
Optional accessories are available to further enhance the finished model, including a comprehensive fittings set, mast kit, crane kit and tow hook.
