The Clipped Wing Pennzoil Super Chipmunk N1114V recreates one of the world’s most iconic aerobatic display aircraft. Originally developed by legendary American airshow pilot Art Scholl, the Super Chipmunk was transformed from the standard de Havilland Canada DHC-1 trainer into a spectacular unlimited aerobatic performer. Featuring clipped wings, enlarged control surfaces, a more powerful engine and a strengthened airframe, the aircraft became famous for its precision displays and unmistakable Pennzoil colour scheme.

Designed as the ideal introduction to large-scale aerobatic flying, this impressive model combines exceptional performance with forgiving handling characteristics. The reinforced airframe is engineered to withstand high-G manoeuvres while remaining smooth, stable and predictable throughout the flight envelope. Large flaps provide excellent low-speed control, allowing gentle landings and making operation from smaller flying fields straightforward.

The model is supplied with a one-piece wing, providing a strong and straightforward construction for those who have suitable transport and storage facilities. For modellers who would prefer the convenience of a two-piece, joinable wing, we also offer the PR527 Super Chipmunk Wing Joining Kit. This optional conversion kit allows the existing one-piece wing to be adapted into two sections for easier transportation and storage.

Precision CNC and laser-cut balsa and plywood components ensure an accurate and enjoyable build, while the comprehensive accessory pack includes everything required to construct the complete airframe. The kit is supplied with a high-quality fibreglass engine cowl, main wheel spats, retract wheel spats and a clear moulded canopy to faithfully reproduce the distinctive appearance of N1114V. The matching self-adhesive Pennzoil decal set and Sponsor Decal Sets are available separately to complete the authentic display aircraft finish.
