Premium A Grade balsa block wood, manufactured in-house by SLEC. Precision cut in 36″ (915mm) lengths and available in soft, medium and hard grades for carving, shaping and model aircraft construction.
SLEC A Grade Balsa Block is manufactured in-house from carefully selected quality balsa timber to provide lightweight, accurately machined block wood for model aircraft construction and general modelling. By processing our own balsa, we are able to maintain excellent quality, precise dimensions and reliable grading throughout our range.
Available in soft, medium and hard grades, our balsa block is ideal for carving, shaping and sanding into a wide variety of components. Whether producing cowl blocks, wing tips, fuselage blocks, nose blocks, fairings or other shaped parts, SLEC balsa provides the excellent strength-to-weight ratio that has made it the modeller’s material of choice for decades.
Each block is precision cut and finished to provide accurate dimensions and a clean surface, making it ready for use in kit building, repairs and scratch-built projects.
Choosing the correct grade of balsa is essential to achieving the ideal balance of strength and weight.
As balsa is a natural material, variations in grain, colour and density are to be expected. Every block is carefully graded to ensure it meets our quality standards before being prepared for sale.
