3.0mm (1/8″) Ceiba Lite Ply

High quality 3.0mm Ceiba Plywood sheet (LaserPly), suitable for a wide range of applications and particularly suited to laser cutting and CNC machining.

Ceiba is a fast-growing lightweight hardwood with a much lower density than Birch plywood, making it easier to laser cut at lower power settings. It machines easily and is ideal for model making, lightweight structures, architectural models, crafts, and other precision-cut applications. When machining, sharp tools are recommended as the softer material can leave a slightly fuzzy edge, which can easily be removed with light sanding.

This is B/BB grade Ceiba Plywood, with a B grade finish on the topside and a BB grade finish on the underside.

The B grade topside shows the natural appearance of the wood, with variations in colour and grain pattern. Sound, smooth knots may be present and are typically under 15mm to 35mm in diameter. The surface should normally be free from open knots and plugs, making it suitable for painting, staining, or a clear lacquer finish.

The BB grade underside is similar to the B grade but allows for larger knots and repairs. Sound knots are permitted and may typically be under 50mm in diameter. Open knots can be repaired with wooden plugs, making this side suitable where appearance is less critical.

This plywood uses an EN314-2 Class 1 glue, suitable for interior (dry) conditions. Interior grade glue is generally preferred for laser cutting as it produces a cleaner cut with less discolouration compared to exterior grade adhesives.

Please Note

As wood is a natural product, plywood sheets can sometimes have a bow, crook, or twist. Natural movement of the material may result in a rise of more than 25mm between the flat centre of the sheet and the corners. This is completely normal and adds to the natural character of the plywood.

If using this material on a laser cutter, sheets should be securely held flat against the laser bed using suitable clamps or tape.

The manufacturing tolerance for Ceiba plywood sheets is ±0.1mm from the stated thickness. Therefore, a 3.0mm sheet may measure between approximately 2.9mm and 3.1mm.

Some sheets may contain a material origin ink stamp. As sheets are stored stacked, ink transfer can occasionally occur between sheets. Any marks can usually be removed easily with fine sandpaper.
